Home of the Fallen Intro
Prologue and Chapter one of Zach's new book "Home of the Fallen"
”A weathered young half-elf maneuvers his way leisurely through the bustling town square, balancing a bag of apples on his right leather shoulder pad. He pauses beside the central fountain, observing it closely, and tries to reminisce about the past. The fountain, a relic of its time, is sculpted from imported marble from the distant homelands of the Empire. It portrays Emperor Valcrician, the conqueror who first subdued these lands in 721 EE, with one foot planted on a globe, holding scrolls in one hand and a sword in the other. Though once revered, the aged marble now bears chips and is entwined with vines. The man exhales and resumes walking. He comes to a wooden merchant wagon positioned near a small booth marked as Greazel Wares, which showcases mythical and magical items on its stands and counter. Placing the apples into the wagon, he is approached by an older man.”
